Stingray City
3-4 hrs
The Department of Tourism places Stingray City and the Sandbar about 25 minutes by boat from Seven Mile Beach in the middle of the North Sound, and recommends engaging a professional charter company. A booked boat trip, not something to fit into a walking day.
Beaches & Snorkeling
Seven Mile Beach
2-4 hrs
On the western side of Grand Cayman, which the Department of Tourism calls one of the most famous stretches of sand in the Caribbean. A short road transfer from central George Town — not walkable from any landing point.
Ancient History & Ruins
George Town and the Cayman Islands National Museum
1.5-2.5 hrs
You land in the middle of it. The museum, the shops and the waterfront are all on foot from the terminals, and nothing needs arranging.

More details
Because every call is tendered, the return leg is a queue and the whole operation is weather-dependent — calls here are cancelled or curtailed more often than at an alongside berth. Build that into any plan that takes you away from George Town, and treat an independent trip to Seven Mile Beach or Stingray City as needing a real time buffer rather than a casual one.
Stingray City is the clear case for booking: the Department of Tourism itself recommends engaging a professional charter company, and it is a boat trip stacked on top of a tender.
Return risk
Moderate
Main risk
Tender queues and weather dependency
Tender-dependent in both directions and subject to sea conditions; nothing about the return is a simple walk up a gangway.
Getting from the ship
To Stingray City and Seven Mile Beach
Tender
How every passenger arrives. The Cayman Islands Department of Tourism states that up to four ships anchor at George Town at one time and that "Passengers are ferried to one of three terminals, all of which are about five minutes away".
Walking
Enough for George Town itself, including the National Museum, the waterfront and the Edward Street bus depot.
Taxi or public bus
The two road options for Seven Mile Beach and the districts. The PTU minibus network is the cheap one; a licensed taxi is the direct one.
Boat charter or organised tour
The only way to reach Stingray City and the Sandbar, which the Department of Tourism places about 25 minutes by boat from Seven Mile Beach in the North Sound.

Exploring Grand Cayman
Simplest approach
Walk for George Town. Beyond it, the Cayman Islands Government's Public Transport Unit runs a minibus network whose routes all start and end at the Edward Street depot in George Town — walkable from where you land — with buses marked by a number in a coloured circle. The PTU is explicit that buses are not a point-to-point service: for a direct run, use a licensed taxi, and check the fare first with the government's own CI:GO app.
Best DIY choice
George Town
You land in the middle of it. Shops, the waterfront and the bus depot are all on foot, and nothing needs arranging.
Bus or taxi
Seven Mile Beach
Not reachable on foot from any landing point. A PTU minibus from the Edward Street depot is the cheap option; a licensed taxi is the direct one.

Farther districts
PTU routes reach every district, but reaching the East End or North Side may mean changing buses back at the depot. With a tender queue waiting at the end of the day, keep that in mind before going far.

Practical notes
Recommended visit duration
Two to three hours covers George Town properly; Seven Mile Beach makes it a half day, and Stingray City takes most of the call once the tender at each end is allowed for.
Accessibility
The tender transfer itself is the real constraint here, and no general accessibility claim is made for it — every passenger arrives by boat, and sea conditions affect the step. George Town is level once ashore, but the landing terminal is not fixed and can vary with the day's operation.
Weather
Strong tropical sun and heat all year, with almost no shade on the waterfront or at the beach; sea conditions also govern whether the tender operation runs at all.
Crowds
With up to four ships anchored at once, a busy day puts simultaneous pressure on tenders, taxis and the beach. The final tender queue is where that concentrates.
