Excursion

Optional

Not a DIY-versus-guided decision in the way a city port is. Carnival's own destination guide lists what the cruise fare already covers here: the mile-long beaches at Starfish and Calypso with complimentary loungers and umbrellas, freshwater showers, the freshwater lagoons, the Suncastle waterslides, the Guppy Grotto splash pad, sports courts, live music at Paradise Plaza and the Junkanoo Parade, lockers, the trams, beach wheelchairs first-come first-served, and one complimentary meal per person at a walk-up venue on the Sail & Sign card. A full day needs none of it booked. What costs extra is the adults-only Pearl Cove Beach Club, cabanas, daybeds, Aquabanas and villas, aqua rentals, upgraded dining, retail and shore excursions. Carnival does note that an excursion leaving the destination meets at Lokono Cove, so trips into Grand Bahama exist — but they are the line's own, not an independent excursion market, and nothing about the day requires one.

Return risk

Low

Main risk

None — the ship is alongside the destination it serves

A dedicated pier, no tenders, and the whole guest area operated by the line, so no third-party transport sits between you and the gangway. The independent-transport risks that drive this rating at a city port have no equivalent here, and an excursion that leaves for Grand Bahama is run by Carnival itself.

Getting from the ship

To Suncastle, the ten-storey slide tower at Paradise Plaza

Walk. A dedicated pier means no tenders, and Paradise Plaza is 6 to 10 minutes on foot. Two complimentary tram loops then run within the destination — Starfish Lagoon to Lokono Cove, and Calypso Lagoon to Lokono Cove. Your Sail and Sign card is needed to reboard.

Exploring Celebration Key

Included

The destination itself

One complimentary meal per person at walk-up venues, beach access, loungers, umbrellas, showers, lagoon swimming, courts, splash pads and live music come with your card.

Book ahead

Paid upgrades on site

Pearl Cove membership, cabanas, villas, daybeds, aquatic rentals and lockers are all extra. Onboard beverage packages do not extend ashore here.

At your own risk

Grand Bahama beyond the gates

Taxis and rental cars are available at Lokono Cove, but leaving the property forfeits the line's return guarantee.

Practical notes

Recommended visit duration

The full port day — there is nowhere else to go

Accessibility

Beach wheelchairs are available at Paradise Plaza on a first-come basis, and the tram loops carry guests who need them. Restrooms, lockers, first aid and service-animal relief areas are spread through the destination, and Carnival publishes a separate accessible version of the destination guide.

Crowds

A pier extension completed in June 2026 doubled capacity to four ships and more than 13,000 guests a day. On a four-ship day the free loungers, beach wheelchairs and tram loops are all heavily contended.
