Ancient History & Ruins
Recoleta Cemetery
1-2 hrs
In Recoleta, so a taxi or rideshare from the terminal as above; the cemetery itself is then walkable from the surrounding blocks.
Free to enter, which makes it the highest-value stop on a port day with no booking. The city's own description is a labyrinthine city of the dead, over 6,400 statues, sarcophagi, coffins and crypts, with more than ninety tombs listed as national historical monuments. Eva Peron's is the grave most people come for; it sits in the Duarte family vault.
Beautiful Scenery
Teatro Colon
1 hr
Cerrito 618, in San Nicolas — the central district, reached the same way as the rest of the centre.
The city ranks it with La Scala, the Opera Garnier and the Royal Opera House, and singles out its acoustics and architecture. Guided tours run, and they are the realistic option on a port day because they do not depend on a performance falling on your call date. Reopened in 2010 after a full restoration.
Ancient History & Ruins
Plaza de Mayo and the Microcentro
2 hrs
The political heart — Casa Rosada, the Cabildo, the Metropolitan Cathedral around one square, and the rest of the centre walkable from it. This is the part of Buenos Aires that needs no ticket and no plan, which is why it anchors a short call.
DIY vs. excursion

Excursion
Optional
The terminal is in Puerto Madero's port area, not in San Telmo, Recoleta or Palermo. Reaching those means a taxi or rideshare; once there, each neighbourhood is walkable in itself.
More details
As an embarkation day this is mostly logistics, and the city genuinely rewards an extra night either side rather than a rushed few hours. Distances between the famous barrios are larger than they look on a map.
Return risk
Low
Main risk
City traffic between the port district and the main neighbourhoods
Embarkation port with abundant taxis and short port-to-city distances, though city traffic is heavy.
