The actual illuminated floats from the Nebuta Matsuri, kept indoors on the waterfront so you can see them close up out of season. Open 09:00-18:00 from September, later in summer.

Sannai-Maruyama Site

A large Jomon settlement with reconstructed dwellings, inscribed by UNESCO in 2021 as part of the Jomon Prehistoric Sites in Northern Japan. Outside the city, so it needs a bus or taxi.

A cider works and market hall two minutes from Aomori Station, built around the apples the prefecture is known for. The easiest thing to do between the ship and anything else.

One of the easiest walk-off calls in Japan. Ships berth alongside at the New Central Wharf terminal, which sits within walking distance of Aomori Station, and the waterfront attractions are grouped around it — the Nebuta museum, A-FACTORY and the bay itself are all a few minutes apart on flat ground. Aomori Station puts the rest of the prefecture within reach by train, and the Sannai-Maruyama Jomon site is the one thing worth a taxi or bus. Calls run through the warmer months, roughly May to September.
