St. Thomas has two cruise piers on opposite sides of Charlotte Amalie's harbor. Havensight (the busier of the two) sits about 1.2-1.7 miles from downtown — a flat, scenic 15-25 minute walk along the waterfront, or a few minutes by taxi. Crown Bay sits about 1.5-2 miles on the other side; the route into town is less pedestrian-friendly, so most visitors take a short taxi rather than walk. Taxis are shared, open-air "safari" vans with set per-person rates, readily available at both piers. Renting a car isn't recommended — driving is on the left, and the roads are steep, narrow, and winding.
