More details
Ships dock at the Deep Water Harbour, about 1 mile west of downtown Bridgetown — a flat, scenic 20-30 minute walk along the boardwalk, a shuttle bus, or a short taxi. Carlisle Bay beach is about 1.5 miles/25-30 minutes on foot, or roughly a 10-minute taxi ride. Brandons Beach is closer, about a 15-20 minute walk. Because Barbados is a small island (about 21 by 14 miles), most attractions are within easy reach of the pier. One noted caveat: taxis are plentiful but can occasionally take up to 30 minutes to secure on busy days — the walk and shuttle bus are reliable backups.
Return risk
Low
Main risk
Occasional taxi-wait delays on busy days
Distances are short and multiple options exist (walk, shuttle, taxi), though taxis have occasionally taken up to 30 minutes to secure when several ships are in port — the walk/shuttle are reliable fallbacks.
